Wills, Probate & Trusts
Claire is a solicitor specialising in Wills, Probate and Trusts. She is also experienced at advising on contesting and challenging Wills.
Before embarking on her legal studies, Claire worked as a Registered General Nurse for many years after completing her qualifications at the Princess Alexandra School of Nursing in The London Hospital. She went on to study at the University of Surrey and completed the LPC at The College of Law 2004.
Claire joined Hanne & Co in 2004 as a trainee solicitor and qualified in 2006 into the Wills, Probate and Trusts department. Her work often overlaps with that of the Family department. Her varied caseload includes inheritance tax planning, wills and trusts for disabled people, lasting powers of attorney, administration of estates and probate.
Claire specialises in contentious probate matters such as Trusts of Land claims, Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependant) Act 1975 claims, and contesting wills on the basis of invalidity, lack of capacity, lack of knowledge and approval and estoppel. She takes the time to listen to her clients’ individual circumstances and looks at achieving not only a fair resolution to disputes, but one that is practical and workable.
As part of the Wills, Probate and Trusts department, Claire also works closely with Trinity Hospice and National Free Wills Network in relation to wills. She is also a member of STEP (Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners).
Outside of her busy practice, Claire enjoys skiing, reading, and country walks.
