We pledge to reduce environmental damage.

We are delighted to announce that we have joined an exciting environmental initiative to kick start 2022. Working with our office supplies group RedBox, we are thrilled to have joined their Red2Green community operated by Sustainably Run. This fantastic initiative allows us to counterbalance the environmental impact of our office supply procurement through tree planting in Africa, the Americas and Asia.

Everything we do in business comes at a cost to the environment. Red2Green works to counterbalance this, and we pledge to plant a tree for every order we place with RedBox to help change the lives of communities across the globe. This will support:

  • Offsetting the Carbon Footprint – Each tree planted in the developing world effectively counterbalances up to 1 tonne of CO2 during its 40 year lifetime.
  • Reversing Deforestation and create biodversity– Through planting a tree on deforested land, the root systems draw water to the surface and regenerate the soil.
  • Providing food for communities – By planting fruit trees in Africa, Asia and South America, it provides sustainable sources of food for the communities who plant them.
  • Providing resources and education – Red2Green comes with tools, infrastructure and education to provide a sustainable way of life for communities that have suffered deforestation

Keep an eye out for our tree tracker coming soon and visit our dedicated Red2Green webpage.

Hanne and Co are proud to announce that they will be sponsoring Barnes Community Players (BCP) for 2021/2022.

The BCP have existed in Barnes for over 20 years, during which time they have performed multiple pantomimes and plays as well as taking shows on tour to numerous Fringe festivals around the country, including Edinburgh. Over the next 12 months the group will be putting on numerous shows including Blackadder, a pantomime (Mother Goose) and Abigail’s Tea Party  (which they hope to take to Edinburgh Fringe 2022).

The group, which is run purely by volunteers, donates all profits made each year to charity. This year there are two chosen charities: The Richmond upon Thames Voluntary Fund and the Action-Attainment.

We are proud to say that with our support, the sum that will be donated to these two nominated charities at the end of this year will be greater than usual. For more details about the group and upcoming performances please follow https://www.barnescommunityplayers.co.uk/

On Thursday 19th August Hanne & Co staff split into teams and tirelessly trekked around Clapham High Street and Clapham Common competing to win the coveted annual treasure hunt! Following cryptic clues and riddles to reach their final destination the eventual winners were Holly, Imana, Rokeya, Susanne and Julia. Each participant paid an entry fee to take part and over £100 was raised for our Charity of the Year, Wandsworth Food Bank!

If you would like to support the charity please click here.

On a balmy Summer’s day in the heat of the South London sun, members of Hanne & Co staff and their families descended on Battersea Park for a spot of Rounders and a firm-wide picnic.

The two teams were led by trainee solicitors Julia Norris and Kirsty Henderson. Whilst Julia’s team emerged victorious and lifted the illustrious Bannell-Mead trophy, the result is less important than the fun had by all and the good-natured spirit of the competition and day itself.

The Rounders event was arranged by Hanne & Co’s Charity Committee and to date has raised over £200 for the firm’s nominated charity, Wandsworth Food Bank.

All donations are very greatly received and if you would like to do so, please click here . Thank you.

On Thursday 22 April, Hanne & Co had the privilege of being guided over Zoom through a 2 course meal with Dan Needes, Head Chef at the Rock and Rose Restaurant in Richmond. All the home chefs cooked up a storm while making donations to our Charity of the Year Wandsworth Food Bank.

On Saturday 27 March Hanne & Co will be participating in The Trussell Trust Race Against Hunger. They do a fantastic job of supporting food banks, including our Charity of the Year, Wandsworth Food Bank.

We will be running/jogging/sprinting 5K to raise awareness and donations for this worthy cause. Times are getting increasingly difficult for many people and we know these services really do make that bit of a difference.

Happy Valentine’s Day from Hanne & Co!

It is a tradition to hold an internal charity “bake off” competition. Although our judges this year were unable to taste all the entries, they were able to feast their eyes on the best looking cakes! This year’s winner with her slice of chocolate heaven, is Rokeya Dangor from the Care Department.

All donations from the competition go to Wandsworth Food Bank. If you would like to donate please follow the link below:

This November, as part of Movember, Steven Bannell, Alex McHugh, Jack Glover and Simon Cohen all put down their razors for the month.

Their efforts, as you can see below, were very respectable. But more importantly, they helped raise almost £200 for Hanne & Co’s chosen charity – Wandsworth Food Bank. Well done to the four of them!

16 colleagues from Hanne & Co took part in the London Legal Support Trust 10x challenge which involved completing activities in multiples of 10 within or over the 10 days from 3rd to 12th October. As you would expect many of our participants chose to do 10k of walking, running or cycling, although some showed their enthusiasm (and fitness) by combining two or more. The most chilled out (and flexible) participant was definitely Maisie Lockyer who did 10 days of Yoga .But perhaps the most intrepid (some might say foolish) challenges were the daily 10 minutes of ab crunches by Liz Francis (ouch!) and the 10 days of Pilates endured by Rajinder Rai!

Around £300 was raised by the event with half of the money being donated to Hanne & Co’s chosen charity – Wandsworth Food Bank. Well done to all!

If you would like to make a small donation, please click here.

Having postponed the ever popular London Legal Walk, the London Legal Support Trust has arranged a 10x challenge!

Hanne & Co staff will be conducting the 10x challenge within 10 days – so support us while we walk, run, cycle or even do 10 days of Yoga from 3rd to 12th October. To show your support please click here.

Half of the money raised will be donated to Hanne & Co’s chosen charity – Wandsworth Food Bank.

Last week Hanne & Co participated in the 10,000 steps for justice – run by the London Legal Support Trust on Monday 8 June 2020. Here’s a glimpse of how we got on!

Hanne & Co Charity “Guess The Eggs” Competition

During lockdown the Hanne & Co Charity Committee have been getting creative with their social distancing fundraising. This Easter they have chosen a “Guess the Eggs” internal competition. Trickier than you think when you only have the above photo! Needless to say there were a lot of Mini Eggs to eat afterwards.

The competition raised £55.00 (and counting) for Hanne & Co’s Charity of the Year, The Wandsworth Foodbank. Charities like the Wandsworth Foodbank need any donation possible, especially during these difficult times.

Total Raised Katherine Low Settlement in 2019/2020 Reaches £5,649.91

The year of fundraising for Katherine Low Settlement, Hanne & Co’s chosen charity for 2019/2020, has now drawn to an end and an incredible £5,649.91 has been raised.

A big “thank you” to everyone who contributed throughout the year!

Massive Half Marathon Efforts Raise £750 for Katherine Low Settlement

Congratulations to Hanne & Co’s Steven Bannell, Jack Glover and Katharine Whittingham who all completed the Victoria Park Half Marathon on Saturday and posted incredible times!

Steven came in fastest at 1:42:27 –  placing him 35th in the V35 category.

Jack was not far behind at 1:45:44 – giving him a creditable 163rd in the main male category.

However, the pick of the bunch was Katharine whose amazing time of 1:58:07 placed her 82nd (out of 199) in the main female category.

Not content with one half marathon, Steven and Jack came back for more on Sunday at the Surrey Half Marathon. As is to be expected, two in two days was a real challenge but they both showed real grit and determination in completing the second race and while their times were not as fast as the previous day they were nevertheless very respectable.

A big thank you to the three of them for their fantastic efforts which raised just under £750 for Hanne & Co’s chosen charity The Katherine Low Settlement.

The Sporting Superstars of Hanne & Co

Hanne & Co’s Steven Bannell, Jack Glover and Katharine Whittingham will be running half marathons this weekend in support of The Katherine Low Settlement.

All three of them will be taking on the Victoria Park Half on Saturday while on Sunday Steven and Jack will also run the Surrey Half Marathon.

If you would like to support this fantastic effort, you may do so here. All sponsorship will be appreciated.

Great Hanne & Co Bake Off – And the Winner Is…Katherine Low Settlement!

Well done to our 11 bakers who put on a fantastic display of skill in the Great Hanne & Co Bake Off that would have left any master patissier looking nervously over their shoulder!

First prize went to Justina Ricci, our returning champion, whose Levant-inspired rosewater & pistachio cake (second from left) had the judges sampling more than their responsibilities might seem to require.

What was left over after the unreasonably long tasting was sold off to Hanne & Co staff, some of whom were queuing up outside, and the handsome sum of £129 was raised for our very worthy chosen charity.

For more information, contact Helen Mead on 020 7228 0017.

Valentine’s Day means…

Yes, it’s that time of year again…Hanne & Co’s annual bake off!

Delectable delights hand-baked by our multi-talented staff – it’s not only excellent witness statements that our solicitors can cook up – and judged by our very own Bake Off dream team of Mary Stewart, Lorna Cservenka and Maisie Lockyer. Suffice to say the tricky task of selecting the lucky judges almost turned into a bun fight!

All for KLS, our chosen charity.

Winners, photos and amount raised to follow next week!

Charity Pub Quiz

A fantastic charity quiz, raffle and auction last night at The Sir Christopher Hatton pub raised an amazing £3,130 for Hanne & Co’s chosen charity – Katherine Low Settlement

In addition to our own Hanne & Co colleagues, around 70 other solicitors and barristers from 10 firms and chambers donated generously in what was a fun-filled evening of brain-teasers, nervous tension and high-stakes bidding.

Congratulations to Ely Place (below) – defending champions, who proved that last year’s victory in the quiz was no fluke.

Ely Place - Winners of the annual Hanne & Co Charity Quiz which this year raised £3,130 for Katherine Low Settlement

Many thanks to Hanne’s Charity Committee for running a perfectly organized evening for such a great cause. A special mention to Steve Bannell – Master of Ceremonies, Quizmaster, Raffle Ticket Drawer and Announcer and Auctioneer Extraordinaire – whose boundless energy helped ensure everything went so smoothly.
