Roy (Royston) Romain has died recently at the age of 92.

Mr Romain was a solicitor with the firm after the Second World War (during which he rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel). He was in his time the British and European 200m butterfly champion and at one stage held the world record. He competed in the 1948 London Olympics narrowly missing out on a place in the finals.

He continued to swim and competed in the British Master Championships and swam regularly every week up to a few weeks before his death.
