Settlement Agreements are written in legal language and often contain complicated clauses concerning restrictions on your ability to work following termination of your contract and the tax implications of any severance payment. An Agreement may also include a draft reference. We provide clear and coherent advice to you about the terms of your Agreement.
Where an Agreement is inadequate or where you believe that you should be paid more than the amount payable in the draft Agreement, we can attempt to negotiate an amendment to the Agreement. We can also advise you on your options which may include not signing the Agreement and making a claim to the Employment Tribunal.
If your employer has already proposed a draft settlement agreement, you will need to obtain legal advice on the Agreement for it to be valid and enforceable. Most employers make a full contribution toward the employee’s legal fees, so in these circumstances there is nothing for you to pay for the legal advice received.
