James is a Senior Associate in our Commercial department, specialising in employment law.
James has 10 years’ experience of bringing Employment Tribunal claims on behalf of Claimants, ranging from unfair dismissal and unlawful deductions claims, to more complex whistleblowing and discrimination claims. James has experience of representing clients bringing the full range of discrimination claims based on age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation.
James has particular expertise in acting on behalf of employees who have suffered sex-related and sexual harassment at work.
James studied Law (LLB) at City University, London and completed the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law, Bloomsbury, with distinction. James qualified as a solicitor after successfully completing his training contract at Hanne & Co in 2010.
James worked at the Royal College of Nursing Legal Services Department for 9 years where his practice focused on employment law and healthcare regulatory law. Before qualifying as a lawyer, James worked as a Registered Nurse for 20 years, practising in the NHS as a Clinical Nurse Specialist.
Outside of work James enjoys bike riding and walking his dog.
